On the occasion of its tenth year, this year's symposium in Litomyšl returns to the concept of the very first creative residency, which the Miroslav Kubík Gallery organized in 2012, and focuses on outstanding young personalities from the Czech art scene. It will draw orientation points on the map of (not only) contemporary painting and, after a decade, will show in which positions this classical discipline managed to find solid ground under its feet again.
The seven participants include painter Sofie Tobiášová, painters Filip Nádvorník and David Čumalo, draftsman and painter Jan Kostohryz and sculptor Anna Ročňová. The work of Olga Krykun and Jiří Pitrmuc also has its center of gravity in painting, but for both of them it freely extends into the sphere of objects or object installations. Regardless of whether they are engaged in any of these media, for them the traditional handmade nature of creation is a kind of certificate of personal responsibility – a confirmation of their own participation in the articulation of the content. Through different paths, they get beyond the border of alienated messages and played emotions, and invite us to walk the same path with them.
As in previous years, the work stay will conclude with an exhibition at which the authors will present the results of their work in the local studios together with their other creations. Curator Jiří Ptáček was entrusted with the selection of authors along with the realization of the exhibition.
