The core of Václav Girsa's painting is the impairment of vital forces that permeate living and non-living entities and processes. If their expressive paintings are often based on children's artistic expression, it is precisely because of children's ability to transpose into images their holistic perception of a world in which everything permeates physical and mental energy, objects merge with subjects, consciousness with subconscious and everyday with magical. Thanks to the obvious joy of the painting process, punk unbalance, but also due to the non-catalog and non-obsessive immediacy, Girsa has long been considered a unique phenomenon in the sky of Czech painting. Even though his paintings capture the thunder and squeak of the world in its painful journey under the ever-hot sun. Josef Váchal could tell Karel Teigem about Girs that he paints "a world that pulsates".
Girs's new paintings are the basis of the exhibition in the Miroslav Kubík Gallery. They are created in his studio on the ground of solitude in the foothills of the Eagle Mountains, where he moved with the beginning of the pandemic to watch the final phase of the world we know from his self-sufficient economy.
